Mid 19th century carved walnut armchair circa 1860. Fine quality profusely carved solid walnut armchair from the high victorian period. Cartouche shaped back with carved acanthus leaves and scrolls, which lead down the the padded arms. arms detailed with carved mythical serpent like creatures which flow down the front carved cabriole legs, finishing with a paw foot. further carved scrolls and linen fold to the front rail. supported by scrolled legs to the rear. Recently re-upholstered and covered in a fabric which compliments the design well, in a light cream with leaves. Expected minor surface marks and restorations. strong and sturdy and ready for everyday use.
