George V silver double inkstand presented to Major Seymour Egerton, Coldstream Guards, by Prince Arthur Duke of Connaught & Strathearn, of rectangular form with two pen trays and two square inkwells with glass bottles, inscribed between the wells ‘Josslyn Seymour Egerton, Coldstream Guards on his marriage, from Arthur Duke of Connaught & Strathearn, June 23rd 1913’, one inkwell collar missing, hallmarked for D and J Wellby, London 1911.nnFootnote:-nJosslyn Seymour Egerton (1883-1946) was a Major in the Coldstream Guards and a Page of Honour to Queen Victoria and Edward VII at Buckingham Palace. Prince Arthur Duke of Connaught & Strathearn (1850-1942) was the 7th child of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. He was the only Prince to serve as Governor General of Canada. He was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the British Army, serving some 40 years and seeing service around the Empire.In 1902 he was promoted to Field Marshal and served as Commander-in-Chief of Ireland.
